La Semaine Du Son

The association La Semaine du Son aims to introduce the public, as well as elected officials and all stakeholders in society, to a better knowledge of sounds and the importance of the quality of the sound environment, which must not only be preserved but in many cases restored. Since 2004, it has organised an annual week of events in January each year on sound-related issues using a cross-cutting approach: cultural, medical, industrial, educational and economic. This unique event was awarded a Golden Decibel in 2006 by the National Noise Council, a consultative body under the patronage of the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. It benefits, in particular, from the Ministry of Health and Solidarity, the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Development. Governed by the law of 1 July 1901 and the decree of 16 August 1901, the association La Semaine du Son aims to create a centre of knowledge, know-how and knowledge about sound. To contribute to the deepening of knowledge in its field, it encourages studies by the best specialists whose arguments and conclusions feed into the Sound Week symposia. By creating a national and international network of professionals from all sectors (television, education, etc. ), it promotes the dissemination of this knowledge in schools, through school events adapted to young audiences. It also intends to campaign for the creation of appropriate training courses, leading to recognised diplomas, which are currently absent from the curricula of schools and universities, in architecture, sound engineering, etc.
